Risk and management:
disseminating HSE management system

HSE* manager within an international group, Harold Safety is in charge of disseminating the Group’s system in a new subsidiary…

And he wonders: where to start? There are so many rules and processes… The subsidiary is still under construction. How can our major risks be controlled? And, given the local context, we will have to be creative and diplomatic! How can we assure Headquarters that local teams will understand and use these HSE rules? Yet this is our only guarantee of being able to operate in good conditions.

Taking these elements and constraints into account, we helped Harold Safety disseminate the HSE management system of this subsidiary.

Our assistance concerned:

  • Clarification of major risks,
  • Validation of the essential requirements and the means of applying them on a daily basis,
  • Formalization of the operating processes: perimeter, stages and associated deliverables, ARCI responsibilities,
  • Co-writing rules with the operational staff, limiting the content to what is essential,
  • Making the system live (communication, HSE moments, etc.) so that staff gets used to using it and relying on it on a daily basis.

Harold remained the master throughout this project. Thanks to our regular face to face or small-committee meetings, he was able to take a step back in order to decide on the options and directions to be taken, while regularly addressing how to maintain the involvement of the teams.
